About the event
Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Chehalis Tribe, the Sherman Creek Legacy Forest in Capitol State Forest is one of the largest complexes of legacy forest remaining in the Black Hills. This forest is home to huge, second-growth Douglas fir and western redcedar and includes areas that were once protected as marbled murrelet habitat. DNR recently auctioned off large parts of this forest in the "Cake Walk," "Carrot" and "Evergreen Gold" timber sales. Fortunately, these trees have yet to be logged and LFDC is challenging all three sales in court.
Please join LFDC on Saturday, March 29th to visit the forest and raise awareness for our irreplaceable legacy forests!
