Explore the Howard Heights Legacy Forest in Clallam County! DNR plans to clearcut parts of this forest in the "Chicken Sticks" timber sale in 2025. DIFFICULTY: MODERATE/DIFFICULT 0.5 mile on trail with some obstacles, followed by 1 mile off trail on more complex terrain.

About the event
Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, DNR's "Chicken Sticks" timber sale threatens both the Sequim Bay and Howard Heights legacy forests. We'll explore the Howard Heights legacy forest, a beautifully biodiverse forest with large Western redcedars, fire-scarred snags, charming hemlocks and towering Douglas firs. This timber sale is scheduled for auction in 2025.
When: 10am-1:00pm on Saturday, May 25th, 2024
Where: We'll meet in the parking lot of Longhouse Market & Deli in Blyn. 271020 US-101, Sequim, WA 98382
What: Expect to hike 0.5 mile on trail (with some obstacles) followed by 1 mile off trail (more complex terrain and obstacles). Please bring water, snacks, shoes to hike in and appropriate layers in case of rain.
