About the event
Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, the coastal Blanchard Mountain Legacy Forest is unlike any other. While the central core of Blanchard State Forest is protected as a Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA), DNR is planning timber sales that would clearcut rare, mature forest along the perimeter of the NRCA. The first of these timber sales, "Ladybug," is scheduled for auction next year.
Please join us on Sunday, August 11th to visit the "Mayfly" timber sale. Let's grow the movement to protect the legacy forests of Blanchard Mountain!
Where: We'll meet at the Blanchard Mountain Trail Upper Parking Lot (48.61697243668242, -122.38576858073016)
When: Sunday, August 11th from 10am–1pm
What: This walk will be up to 4 miles roundtrip, on trail. Expect an elevation gain of ~750 feet.
Please bring water, snacks, shoes to hike in and the appropriate layers in case of rain. *DISCOVER PASS REQUIRED*
